On July 4th, we had a HUGE party to celebrate Independence Day. Thanks to the help of many of my students, it turned out to be a FABULOUS party. There was a magic show, games, prizes, and a mini-quiz about American history. My favorite part was when Mr. Trump visited the party. Everyone seemed so happy to see him. Did you know that his middle name is JOHN??? What a coincidence!

For Japanese, perhaps O-Bon is the biggest summer holiday. When you hear the word "summer", what month do you think of? August? For me, I think of July as the main summer month. We don't have a rainy season, so July is very hot. Thinking of Independence day brings back many fond memories of fireworks, hot dogs and hamburgers, and the beach. It is a HUGE holiday. Watching fireworks in my country is different from in Japan because there is patriotic music to accompany the fireworks. If you have a chance, you should
definitely try to visit America on the 4th of July and experience the celebrations for yourself.

日本の人にとって、おそらくお盆は最も大きな夏の休暇にあたるでしょう。皆さんが「夏」と言う言葉を耳にした時、何月が思い浮かびますか？私は7月が盛夏として思い浮かびます。アメリカには梅雨がないので、7月はとても暑いのです。独立記念日は花火🎇、ホットドッグ🌭やハンバーガー🍔そして海辺といった懐かしく、楽しい思い出を私に呼び起こします。独立記念日はHUGE な祝日なのです。私の国での打ち上げ花火は日本のそれとは大分異なっています。花火とともに愛国的な音楽が流れるからです。もし皆さんにアメリカを訪れる機会がありましたら、是非とも7月4日の祝祭をご自身で体験してみてください。
