Hold your horses!
A long time ago, I visited Tasmania. Tasmania is an island south of Australia. When I was there, I saw many animals; kangaroos, koalas, and the Tasmanian Devil. The Tasmanian Devil looks small and cute, but is actually a ferocious and vicious animal with incredibly strong jaws. Sometimes they even eat their young! OMG!
While I was there, I went horseback riding. I had been horseback riding before, but it was always a calm and slow experience. However, this time we were allowed to take the horses running across fields, through the wilderness, and even along the beach. It was quite scary, actually. Sitting up high on the horse, I felt like I could fall at any minute. But it was such an exhilarating feeling when the horse was running wild and free. I definitely recommend it if you ever have the chance.
There is a popular idiom, "hold your horses". It is a very direct way of saying ちょっとまって！！！

FASTING
Have you ever tried fasting? "Fast" when used as a verb means not eating for a period of time. Maybe you know the word "breakfast". It comes from this meaning. When you sleep, you don't eat; you FAST. When you wake up, you eat and you break the fast----> BREAKFAST. Sometimes I fast until 5pm. That means after dinner, I don't eat anything until 5pm the next day. Or, sometimes I eat a small breakfast and then skip lunch. Teaching English is not a very physical job. I don't use my body very much when I teach, so I feel I don't need so much energy. Today I am skipping lunch. Have you tried fasting?

Hello again, everyone! I am excited to start teaching again today. As you may have noticed, I had some time off last week. Maybe you think I took a trip back to Florida, or went to Hawaii and had some fun in the sun. I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I only stayed home and worked. I'm having a big seminar on Saturday, so I had a lot of preparation to do. If you can, please come and bring a friend!

My First Walkman
I remember my first walkman. I was in middle school. It wasn't a cassette player however, it was just a radio. But, I was so happy to have it. It was the first time I listened to music in stereo. I was so amazed. I took it to school everyday, but hid it in my bag. It was my treasure. I remember listening to Phil Collins and Bon Jovi. Those were the days.

A Sad Day for Japan
Yesterday was a sad day for Japan. I thought about all the people who lost their lives on that day. It is quite shocking. I found this on the internet.
The number of confirmed deaths is 15,894 as of June 10, 2016, according to the reconstruction agency. More than 2,500 people are still reported missing.
I respect Japanese people because they are very strong when it comes to recovering from disaster. However, I wonder what is going on with the Fukushima nuclear power plants? Is the area around it safe? Is it still leaking radiation?

Marathon
This year I am going to try to run the Yokohama Marathon. I have heard that it is difficult to enter because there is a limit to the number of people who are allowed to run. However, a number of entries just for foreigners are allowed - 1000. Hopefully, not that many foreigners are going to join. The marathon will be held November 10, but registration is April 17. The bad thing is that the registration fee is ￥１７０００！ It is expensive, but running a marathon is on my bucket list so I have gotta do it. Wish me luck!

Locker
Schools in the U.S. have lockers for the students to keep their books in. I remember my first locker. It was in middle school. It was more like a trash can for my unfinished homework and textbooks, ha ha. It was so incredibly messy. It had a combination lock, and I still remember the combination! I hated taking my books home, so I did my best to finish my homework in school. I didn’t even have a bag.The good thing about the locker was that it had 3 slits in the front of it. One time I wrote an anonymous love letter to a girl I liked and slipped it into her locker between classes. Her name was Jennifer. I never told her that I wrote the note. What did I write? It was such a long time ago. It makes me laugh when I think about it.

Last night I had a fun time with some of my students. They took me to watch RAKUGO. It was my first time. There were two performers. We had good seats, right in the middle and near the front. It was a little difficult for me to understand, but I learned some new Japanese words. I could understand well in the beginning, but I got lost as the performance went on. I couldn't keep up as the performer went on and changed from one character to the next. But I could still somehow understand the story and it was interesting to watch the performer's expressions. It is amazing that he can memorize so much dialogue! Next time, I want to try MANZAI!
