It is amazing how quiet everyone is on the train. People are so reserved and polite, yet there are constant announcements! It feels as if the train is trying to make up for the silence. The sheer number of announcements is almost unbelievable!
The automated voice tells you everything: which train you are on, the next stop, reminders to give up your seat for people who need it (such as handicapped people), don't leave anything behind, be careful getting off the train, that there is a gap between the train and the platform, and that, after getting off, you should walk behind the yellow line. And then, just as you relax, it announces the next stop is coming soon, and which side of the train the door will open! Furthermore, it is all repeated again in English! You have to wonder: don't they know that everyone is trying to get some shut-eye?
