When I was a child, I always had a “bowl cut”. That means my bangs were cut straight across my forehead. Then when I was in the 5th grade, I did something bad, and my father made me shave my head. I was very embarrassed at first, but I got used to it. In high school, I started listening to heavy metal music and I let my hair grow out past my shoulders. My mom always complained about it. Then when I started college I had my heavy metal hair-do cut short except for one long braid in the back. At the time, it was in fashion. It was called a “rat-tail”. I cut it off eventually, and then had a normal boy’s hairstyle until I joined the Navy and got a crew cut. Sometimes I think if I didn’t have a job I would grow my hair and beard out like a wild caveman, lol. How about you? Why don’t you try something different?

子供の頃、私はずっとマッシュルームカットでした。つまり前髪は額にそって真っ直ぐにカットされていました。その後、小学5年の時、何か悪いことをしたので、父は私を坊主頭にさせました。最初のうちはとても恥ずかしかったのですが、それにも慣れていきました。高校時代にはヘビメタ音楽を聴くようになっていて、私は髪を肩まで伸ばすようになりました。母はいつもそれをこぼしていました。大学に入ると、ヘビメタのショートカット、一本だけ長い三つ編を後ろに垂らした髪形になりました。当時の流行でした。それはネズミのしっぽとよばれていました。最終的ににはそのしっぽも切り離し、ネイビーに入隊するまでは普通の男子のヘアースタイルで、そして、短い角刈り、クルーカットになりました。もし今、仕事に就いていなかったら、石器時代の穴居人のように髪も髭ものばしているだろうななんて思うことがあります。(笑) 皆さんはどうですか？時には髪型を変えてみるなんていうのはどうでしょう？

There is a popular proverb in English that says “You can judge a man by the shoes he wears.” I have my own proverb, “You can judge a person by their hairstyle.” Here’s a list of my own interpretations of hairstyles:

1. Bangs are too long. - I think people with long bangs are very shy because they are attempting to cover their eyes.

2. The comb-over - This is when men use hair from the sides of their head to try to cover their baldness, for example; TRUMP. I think this shows insecurity and weakness.

3. The bald man with neatly trimmed hair on the sides of his head - I think this shows that a man is very strong and secure. I have heard that many women are attracted to this type of man.

4. Spiky hair- artistic and unique

5. Short, typical business-like hairstyle - someone who is conservative and is not into fashion, nor is very creative.

There are many more that I can think of, but what do you think? Do you agree? What does your hairstyle say about YOU?

5. 短髪、典型的なビジネスライク(実際的で実用性重視の)-保守的で流行にはまらず、、非常に創造的とはいえない。

3. Blog Topic: Hairstyles Pt.1

Some people have the same hairstyles their whole life. Me, I like to change mine week to week. I don’t really do it on purpose. As my hair grows out, it seems to naturally create a new style. It seems like my hair decides its own style, ha ha. It also depends on the weather. The humidity makes my hair more wavy, and so I must style it a different way from usual. After taking a shower, I usually towel-dry my hair, then go get dressed and come back and blow dry it a little bit. Then it is GATSBY time! I have a tower of GATSBY hair wax in my bathroom, lol. I apply the hair wax to my hair, and viola! I have a new hairstyle! How about you? Leave a comment and tell me how you style your hair!

3. Blog Topic: Eating Pt.3

When I was a child, I used to take such a long time to finish eating. I don’t remember why. My mother would force me to sit at the table until I finished all my food. I never really liked eating because I always felt I could be doing something else. Maybe I still feel the same. I often stand in front of my kitchen counter when I eat breakfast. I really don’t like “course meals”, especially at French restaurants because they take so much time! Perhaps I picked up the habit of eating quickly when I was in the Navy. The food was always bland and was often leftovers from the day before. Furthermore, since the ship was rocking back and forth, I didn’t really have an appetite anyway.

I am just happy and thankful to have food, no matter what it is, but I wish I could eat faster. I would love it if I could drink all my food instead of eating it! lol.

子供の頃、私は食事し終えるのに非常に長い時間がかかりました。なぜだか覚えていませんが。母はよく、私が全て食べ終えるまでテーブルにつかせていました。本当に食べる事は好きではなかったのです、なぜならいつも何か他にできることがあるような気がしていたからです。おそらく今でも同じ気持ちなのだと思います。私はしばしば、台所の調理台で朝食をとります。わたしはコース料理がすきではありません。特にフレンチレストランでの。食事に時間がかかる! 多分海軍にいたときに早く食べる習慣は身についたのでしょう。軍の食事はいつも味がなく、前日の残りだったりすることもしばしばでした。その上、船は前後に揺れているのでどのみち食欲はそんなにあったわけではありません。ただ、今幸せに、ありがたく思うことは何であれ食べ物があるということ、願わくばもっと早く食べたい。食べる代わりに飲んでしまえたら最高なのですが。(笑)

What foods do you hate to eat the most? Now, except for the foods I am allergic to, I can eat just about anything. When I was a child, I hated green peas. I used to hide them under my plate or feed them to my dog. I never used to like anything green, ha ha. I just started eating broccoli a few years ago. I still think it doesn't have any taste, like tofu. However, I know that it has lots of protein, so I enjoy eating it now. I know one question you want to ask me. Do I like NATO? Do you like to eat? Who doesn't? Everybody loves eating, I think. However, some people like eating too much. When I eat, I try to eat small meals. I don't like the feeling of being too full. I exercise a lot, but after I exercise I feel even hungrier than before. It is a difficult situation. Exercise seems to give me a bigger appetite. The more I exercise, the more I want to eat. After running, I feel like I wanna pig out on something. I heard that if you feel like pigging out, it is best to eat really sweet chocolate. The reason is because it is too sweet and you won't be able to eat so much. Does that sound like a good strategy? So remember, the next time you see me eating chocolate it is because I am on a diet, ha ha.

Azaleas Pt.2

For me, azaleas bring back memories from my childhood. It front of our house, there were big bushes of pink and white azaleas. It's funny how everything in your childhood memories was big. I remember my mother would often take care of them, and her hands would break out. Did you know that azaleas are poisonous? You can die from the honey made from azaleas. I am not sure if that is the reason for her hands breaking out, but you should definitely not try to eat them.
